Suicide remains a significant public health issue in Ireland. However in the
last few years in Ireland the relatively rare events of murder suicide and suicide clusters have become more prevalent. When such events occur they have often attracted high profile media coverage. There is therefore a need for a consistent and coordinated health and social care response.
This guidance document is designed to be an accessible resource for local
service managers when responding to such tragic events as murder-suicide
and suicide clusters.
